Safeguarding and Child Protection - Our Commitment to Safeguarding

At Broomhill Infant School, the safety and wellbeing of every child is our highest priority. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and expect all staff, governors, volunteers and visitors to share this commitment.

We work closely with families, Sheffield City Council and other partner agencies to ensure that children are safe, supported and able to achieve their full potential.

During School Holidays

If you have an urgent safeguarding concern during school holidays, the Designated Safeguarding Lead can be contacted on:  07749 752678

If a child is in immediate danger, always call 999.

If you are unable to contact the school and remain concerned about a child's safety, you should contact Sheffield Children's Social Care or the Police.

Reporting a Concern

If you are worried about the safety or welfare of a child:

  • Speak to a member of our safeguarding team as soon as possible.

  • Contact the school office and ask to speak to the Designated Safeguarding Lead or a Deputy DSL.

  • If your concern is urgent and the school is closed, use the holiday contact number above.

  • If you believe a child is at immediate risk of harm, call 999.

We take all concerns seriously and will respond in line with our safeguarding procedures.

Online Safety

Helping children stay safe online is an important part of safeguarding. We teach pupils how to use technology safely and work with parents to promote positive and responsible online behaviour.

Visitors to School

All visitors are required to sign in at reception, wear a visitor badge and follow our safeguarding procedures while on site. Visitors may be asked to provide identification and appropriate safeguarding checks where necessary.

Our Safeguarding Culture

Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility. We strive to create an environment where children feel safe, valued and listened to. We encourage pupils to speak to a trusted adult if they are worried about themselves or someone else and work hard to ensure that every child knows they will be heard.

Our whole staff team receives annual safeguarding and fire training to keep our children and staff safe from harm.

As part of the training, we study serious case reviews and think about how we can improve our safeguarding strategies as a result. Please see below.
